Social CRM provider Nimble this week introduced an API called Contact that will allow third-party software companies to integrate their solutions with Nimble's contact management platform.
"The API represents a major milestone in achieving our mission of helping small teams nurture stronger relationships to drive more business opportunities," said Jason McDowall, Nimble's director of product. "Our API puts Nimble at the center of any customer engagement workflow by tying together complementary tools in the areas of sales, marketing, customer service, and accounting."
Nimble users already enjoy integration with HubSpot and MailChimp. The Contact API will allow customers and partners to create an integrated workflow with other best-of-breed tools that complement Nimble. So, for example, companies could connect Nimble to their lead generation form built on WordPress or connect Nimble to their favorite quoting or project management tool.
Nimble also rolled out an Application Marketplace, which features a list of partners already offering or planning to offer integrations with Nimble. In addition to HubSpot and MailChimp, those partners include HootSuite, Freshdesk and Rapportive.
The Contact API is the first in what the company says will be a larger collection of application programming interfaces. "We envision making Nimble the single source of customer engagement intelligence to power all of your engagement activities and decisions. We’re excited to see how you will create fully integrated workflows with other best-of-breed tools that complement Nimble," according to a post on the company blog.
Nimble says it recently surpassed 45,000 registered users, with over 1,000 paying companies. After getting $1 million in seed funding earlier this year, Nimble has increased its global sales network to more than 240 resellers, half of which are located outside the United States.
