"When employees leave, knowledge is lost forever unless organizations have the proper technology to capture, store, and recycle the information."
Keeping tabs on a project's lifecycle can be a bit of a headache especially given the high turn over rate at some companies.
That's why Pleasanton-based PeopleSoft (Nasdaq: PSFT) says it is working with IBM's Lotus Development Corp.to integrate Lotus' Knowledge Management products with PeopleSoft's Enterprise Service Automation (ESA).
"Today service-based organizations experience about 20 percent employee turnover," says PeopleSoft Financials and Enterprise Service Automation VP Renee Lorton. "When employees leave, knowledge is lost forever unless organizations have the proper technology to capture, store, and recycle the information. We chose to partner with Lotus because its knowledge management offerings complement PeopleSoft's integrated engagement management solution. When used together the PeopleSoft and Lotus products will revolutionize the workforce environment of service organizations."
PeopleSoft says its ESA solution automates and tracks complete detail of a project's people, processes and profitability while Lotus says its products, Discovery Server, Quickplace and Sametime, capture an industry professional's knowledge and experience.
The combined solution is expected to let companies increase the speed and efficiency of service delivery by giving their customers, suppliers and employees with shared knowledge of activities and deliverables throughout a project's entire life cycle.
No word yet on the price-point or a timetable to when the combined solution would become available.
